Can good design ‘spark joy?’ • Decluttering figure Marie Kondo swept the world last summer by asking us what “sparks joy.” But how does this relate to good design?

In Brief • The latest projects, products and people collated to inspire.

Honest design • Award-winning furniture designer Tom Fereday has teamed up with King Living for their first design collaboration. The result is a table that expresses honest design, true to its materials and process.

China’s rising design talent • Embodying energy and innovation in their work, six emerging designers from China were celebrated at the recent Maison&Objet show in Paris.

Inside the creative process • At the recent Artichoke Night School held in Brisbane, four creatives reflected on their personal approach to the creative process.

Celebration of materials • For International House in Barangaroo, structural wooden beams and large glass facades with a textural roller shade fabric made from recycled ocean plastic has made for a distinct pairing.

Coco Flip • This Melbourne-based design studio, run by Kate Stokes and Haslett Grounds, works closely with local craftspeople to create furniture and lighting with character.

Through Love … • Pairing renowned artist Patricia Piccinini and Australian modernist Joy Hester, this exhibition presents works that show the incredible spectrum of love and connection.
