Back in the furrow • The three day Ploughing Championships was back on Irish farming calendars again, and while there were a notable number of absentees, there was still a lot of new machines on show. Mervyn Bailey shuffled along with the 73,000-115,000 visiting the show each day to pick up these highlights.

How is the big Lauingen lad doing? • With the 9 series, Deutz-Fahr has been doing its best to appeal to farms wanting bigger horsepower since 2015. Read how the 9340TTV (232kW/316hp rated power, 247kW/336hp max power) has proved itself with a daily workload in a contracting fleet where it has clocked more than 4,500 hours.

Does simplicity mean success? • There is a wide variety of combination drills not only across the market, but also within some manufacturers’ product lines. Using the Premia, Integra and Sitera from Kuhn as examples, we looked at the different approaches to design.

A shovel with reach • The 9580T is Weidemann’s top-of-the-range telescopic wheeled loader. It’s the articulated counterpart to its four-wheel-steer Kramer sibling, which we've tested in a previous magazine.

Old name, new tech • The new generation of 700 Vario is anything but a subtle update. The Gen 7 brings big Fendt tractor features to the 200-300hp segment.

Big and trailed • Kuhn has been experimenting with its FC13460RA trailed high-capacity mower for some time, but it is now ready for the market. We caught up with one of the first production units for an exclusive in-field look.

Heave-ho, onthe go • Krampe now offers a push-off trailer, the RamBody AS750. Our German colleagues were able to use the new trailer design for a few days.

Tedder transformer • The Fanex 1564C transforms from a relatively compact unit into a real acre-eater when stretched into its working position. Equally impressive is how Vicon’s widest working tedder to date hugs the ground.

Extra meaty metal • There is a new heavy-duty option in the CNH variable-chamber baler line-up. We knocked out a few bales with the Case IH version, the RB456 HD Pro.

Small specialists • Massey has given a Stage V makeover to its lower horsepower tractors produced by Carraro-Agritalia. Read on to see what else the new models from Italy have to offer.

Should a Euro built Kubota M7 make it onto your used buying list? • If you are in the used buying market for a tractor in the nominal 150hp power bracket, there is every chance there will be something to tempt from the ‘big four’ tractor makers. But should the three model Kubota M7 series, spanning a nominal 130hp to 170hp, also be on your used buying list?
