PART 1 A Multipurpose Knurling Tool • Jacques Maurel describes how to make a versatile knurling tool with various modes of operation.

PART 16 The BR Standard 2-6-0 Class 4 Tender Engine • Doug Hewson continues with the valve gear of his BR Standard Class 2. 155 of these locomotives, known as Moguls, were built for British Railways.

NUTS and SPANNERS • These articles by Geometer (lan Bradley) were written about half a century ago. While they contain much good advice, they also contain references to things that may be out of date or describe practices or materials that we would not use today either because much better ways are available of for safety reasons. These articles are offered for their historic interest and because they may inspire more modern approaches as well as reminding us how our hobby was practised in the past.

A Sub-base for a Press Tool • Will Doggett's press tool was featured in MEW issue 285-287 and 290-291. In this article he describes a new sub-base for the one-part base bed.

The Yield Point Method • Les Smith, B.Eng., MSc., Ph.D. andAlan Brown BSc. compare two methods of determining the required thickness of copper model steam boiler shells. They introduce a ‘Yield Point’ Method and compare it to the established ‘UTS’ Method.
