Something to celebrate

Coastal retreat • Arriving at the holiday home of Nick and Isabel Evins, we’re greeted by the couple’s black Labrador, Quincy, who strikes the perfect balance between protection and welcome. The property too has perfect balance, between aesthetics and practicality, beauty and liveability.

Pillar of success • Arriving at a modest cluster of shops in Morphett Vale, we step into the home of Pillar of Salt Event Catering.

Alone at last • Experience these Fleurieu retreats. From luxury villas to eco and tiny escapes, each is crafted for slow living, privacy and deep connection with nature.

Monet to Matisse • Opening 11 July, the Art Gallery of South Australia’s winter exhibition Monet to Matisse: Defying Tradition features fifty-seven works – never before seen in Adelaide – from the Toledo Museum of Art’s world-renowned collection.

New locales • Across the Fleurieu and surrounding coastal towns, there’s a shared thread running through a diverse mix of local small businesses – from a new cellar door and early childhood environment to independent retail, wellness and dining. Each is shaped by local character and purpose, with an emphasis on thoughtful detail and genuine engagement in community. Together, they reflect a region where things are closely tied to their surroundings and to the people who live here.

Coorong.Life • Coorong.Life is the creation of Kate Brooks – an artist, photographer and retreat host working from the edge of South Australia’s Coorong.

Water People • For the fourth year running, Coral Street Art Space hosts Water People – an embodied expression of love and reverence for oceans, rivers and aquatic life.

Built for living • Having the luxury of seeing Sam Noonan’s photographs before our visit to this home offered an enticing preview of the property.

Venturing Yonder • I’m meant to be interviewing sisters Chelsea, Nikki and Megan but somehow they’ve flipped the script and are interviewing me. They’re so warm and interested that it takes me a moment to remember I’m the one asking the questions.

Balancing Plates returns as ‘After Hours at Wirra Wirra’ • Hospitality workers from across the Fleurieu Peninsula will come together for an evening of conversation and wellbeing at the next Balancing Plates – After Hours at Wirra Wirra event on 16 June.

Botanical and mechanical • Stepping onto Michel Wyman and David Archer’s sprawling rural property in Blewitt Springs, that first sight is an exploding cornucopia of creation, natural and human. Flowers and hand-made windmills. A swimming pool turned water garden. All before you enter the house and sheds containing treasures beyond the dreams of the most seasoned op shoppers and antique hunters.
