FROM THE ARCHIVES TURVEY'S TOP 10 OF 250 ISSUES • I'VE WRITTEN A COUPLE OF THESE ARCHIVE FOCUSED ARTICLES OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS, AND ONE THING THAT'S APPARENT WHEN CHOOSING ISSUES TO WRITE ABOUT IS THAT EVERY ISSUE IS JUST AS SIGNIFICANT TO AUSTRALIA'S SKATEBOARDING HISTORY AS THE NEXT. From the very first issue through to the magazine you're holding now, they're all time capsules; every one of them contains something that can't be found anywhere else, and in the digital age, that's more important than ever. These magazines haven't been scanned and uploaded into some giant database to be used as fodder for AI, they're unique vessels of history. This time around, I avoided the issues I've written about before and used a bit more subjectivity than usual. I present you with my personal top 10 favourite issues of Slam in chronological order – apologies in advance for personal biases.
PEOPLE POWER ROLL TOGETHER, CREATE TOGETHER • WITH THE ONSET OF WINTER, COLDER AND WETTER WEATHER CAN PUT A HALT TO SOME SKATE SESSIONS. You might see this as an opportunity to go inwards into your own time and space, but I'd like to invite you to navigate this winter period through a lens of human connection.

BRAD SAUNDERS HIGH FIVES • WHETHER BRAD'S ESCAPING MELBOURNE WINTERS TO KEEP THE ENDLESS SUMMER ROLLING OVERSEAS, grinding hectic handrails, or finding himself in sketchy situations around San Francisco, the 24-year-old Melburnian, originally from West Sumatra, approaches life with a genuine love for skateboarding and everything that comes with it. His High Fives reflect that and fittingly, all of the pics for this feature were shot throughout SF during one of his favourite recent trips.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS FROM THE VOLCOM MICROWAVE PREMIERE/POSSUM PARK TOUR
THE CREW • Simon Bannerot and Omar Hassan have spent so much time in Australia over the years that they're practically honorary locals at this point, while the European contingent were touching down here for the first time. Naturally, the standard pre-trip WhatsApp chat full of snakes in cupboards, giant spiders, and great whites cruising the shoreline had the Euros on edge – especially Manchester's finest, Harry Lintell.

PRECIOUS VENUS PREMIERE, MELBOURNE • Precious Venus is a recent Melbourne vid that has been gifted to us through the lens of Albert D'Urbano and recently premiered at Fast Times in Melbourne. The punters braved some unseasonably frigid conditions to see the likes of Brad Saunders, Johnno Halchenko, Brandon Cullimore, Chris Bradley, Mitch Hughan, Bard Milnes, Pete Lewis, Nnamdi Ekeledo-Smith and Jack Evans on the big screen. The brews flowed, and once the doors closed at Fast Times, kick-ons were had at the café three blocks across the road to end the night.
